The Spirit of God hovered over the waters in the beginning, when God initially created the heavens and the earth. What was formless and empty became full of life. When people turn to Jesus with their whole heart, they receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, who comes to live within. God’s presence makes us full of gladness and joy because we receive a new heart.
But then the ego, or self, which once had dominance and control begins to react. Just as when the body receives an organ transplant and the body’s immune system attacks the new organ because it is seen as an intruder, so the ego or self attacks this new heart devoted to Jesus. Used to being selfish and having it’s way, the battle begins as the old self seeks dominance and control again. What do we do in this dilemma? How do we fight against our self? In addition to this, we have an evil enemy, the devil, who prowls around looking for a weak Christian to destroy.
Believers need to recognize that the Holy Spirit who lives within us is greater than the one who is in the world and refuse to be deceived. By submitting to God and drawing near to Him, we can put an end to double-mindedness. We can choose to focus our eyes on Jesus and resist the evil one. We can humble ourselves before God and God will lift us up. We can allow our new compassionate heart to love… God and others.
Do you want more power to succeed in the kingdom of God? Will you invite Holy Spirit to be greater in you? Ask Jesus for the baptism of fire. Allow for the supernatural. Find out who this third person of the Trinity really is. Holy Spirit is amazing. He is our wonderful counselor and helper. His joyful personality brings freedom, truth, and the power to do the impossible.
Give all of yourself to all of God.
Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world ( 1John 4: 4).
