Everyone struggles through crisis situations from time to time. You find yourself in the midst of conflict and it hurts. It’s a part of life. But, how do you face the trials of life and find the joyful strength to persevere? Where do you find the comfort to move forward through the painful moments, when it hurts so much that screaming out loud feels like the only way to express your grief?
Cry out to God. He cares for you.
Don’t immerse yourself in drugs and alcohol. Don’t withdraw into a cave and hide. Don’t strike out at the first available person who walks through that door. Don’t blame others or your circumstances. Don’t get even. Don’t be jealous of someone who seems to have it all. All these reactions lead to more trouble and pain.
Cry out to God. Tell Him where and how it hurts. He cares for you. He has the power to reach into your pain and bring you comforting hope and peace. He has lifted my pain, soothed my aching heart, and imparted hope many times. He has poured fresh heavenly rain into my soul and softly spoken of His everlasting love for me… my sweet, sweet Jesus.
Jesus understands betrayal. One of his companions turned him over to his enemies for money. He understands the struggle to overcome the self. His sweat was drops of blood in the Garden of Gethsemane as He prepared to go to the cross. He was mocked and beaten, and then tortured on a cross. Still, He said, “Forgive them for they know not what they do.” What amazing love is this!
He is the God of hope and comfort. Cry out to God. He will help you.
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15: 13).
We are living in a moment of time. In Jesus, we live into eternity.

The Truckee River flows down from the Sierra Nevada Mountains and through the high desert of northern Nevada providing water for these thirsty mustangs. They drink as much as possible before moving along to find places to graze. The skies over the desert release very little rainfall, so the wild horses must return again and again to the river to quench their thirst.
We also need to drink plenty of fresh water daily. But, there is another kind of craving that plain water cannot satisfy. The human soul longs for a relationship with the Creator. Jesus, the Son of God, can connect us with our Creator, our Father in heaven. Jesus can give us water that satisfies the soul, and it will become a spring within us that leads to eternal life.
How do you access this life-giving water? Ask Jesus to give you some of His water… the Holy Spirit. Move powerfully into your journey toward eternal life with prayer for MORE… more of God’s Spirit in your life, more love and faith, more of Jesus. The water that I will give them will become in them a spring which will provide them with life-giving water and give them eternal life (Jesus quoted in John 4: 15, Good News Translation Bible).
