  • On a Rock

Sitting on a RockI invite you today to come into my secret place with Jesus…

I can hear the rushing of Eagle Falls as I sit on a rock overlooking Emerald Bay at Lake Tahoe. Many shades of blue, green, and gray surround me. Thankful for my strength to climb to this place, my heart is full. Early in the morning Jesus called me to come and meet Him here. The vision of God’s beautiful creation comforts and soothes my soul. I pull my journal from my backpack, ready to record the word He has called me to hear.

Why do these tears appear wetting my eyes? I see a heart formed in the clouds and hear an angel whispering, “For you.”

I write the words I hear in my heart,

My everlasting love for you can shelter you, can bring you a peace like today in the busiest intersection of life, in transitions, and in turmoil. Between heaven and earth is My Holy Spirit in you, powerful and gentle, strong with peace, courage that is pure without anything to prove. Who He is, you are becoming. His power is working in you, my beloved, my dear.

The voices of people may come and go, but my voice stands firm and ever present whispering and at times shouting into your heart.

My presence abides in you. Be engaged in my love.

Is there anything you need to fear if I stand guard over your heart?

I am distracted by a loud humming that sounds like an airplane overhead, but there is no plane in sight.

Just like the blaring sound overhead you hear that can distract you, an airplane overhead is loud, so can circumstances in life cause you to wonder… but that sound, that distracting noise cannot change where you now sit… you are in a pleasant place, a peaceful place, resting in my presence. You wonder, when will the noise stop. Refocus. Set your mind on where you are seated in heavenly places, on the side of a mountain. The noise cannot move you, cannot shake you, cannot touch you.

Lord, it is loud. Maybe it’s not just an airplane… it goes on and on and on.

Is it changing where you are seated, does it change your view? Look. Now it’s gone.

It did not change my position or my circumstance… but I am glad that noise is gone.

This is how troubles can affect you. They create noise, but you haven’t moved, nor have I.

    I stood with you.

Look around you. What do you see?

I see that I’m seated next to the edge of a rock; just a few feet from danger – it’s fifty feet to the next level.

    Are you safe?

Yes. I like it here. There’s adventure and safety with You, Lord. The noise eventually stopped.

The troubles will eventually cease… there will be longer periods of rest compared to noise.

All of us, then, reflect the glory of the Lord with uncovered faces; and that same glory, coming from the Lord, who is the Spirit, transforms us into his likeness in an ever greater degree of glory (2 Corinthians 3:18 GNT).

For he raised us from the dead along with Christ, and we are seated with him in the heavenly realms – all because we are one with Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:6 NLT).

Let the wind of the Spirit

    Blow upon you,

    Set your spirit

    Free to fly.

A longing in my heart began to stir. I longed go to the ocean to feel the cool sea breeze upon my face, to watch the waves crash against the rocks of the northern coast of California, and to take photos of the lighthouses near Fort Bragg. I love taking my shoes off and allowing the gentle waves wash over my feet as I walk along the shore. I wanted to paint a prophetic picture while looking at the Pacific Ocean. I decided to go, with Jesus.

All things are possible with God.

    Loving Jesus.

    River's EdgeI’m going to a place

    Where my hand is held

    And my voice is heard

    My heart is seen

    And it is good.

    Come, Lord Jesus

    Come.

  • Releasing a Miracle

Posted on September 2nd, 2014 lula 2 comments

This beautiful mountain lion was seven months old when he was hit by a car near Lake Tahoe. His rescue and recovery were so remarkable that he bears the name, Milagro, Spanish for miracle. Milo lives at Animal Ark in Reno as a stunning ambassador for his species.

    Do you believe in miracles?

Inspired by his story, I created Releasing a Miracle.

Faith in Jesus, powered by Holy Spirit, will stir enough faith to release a miracle in your life.

    Believe.

  • Stand

When another stallion passed by a little too close for comfort, the buckskin positioned himself in a stance that stated he would not back down. With his feet firmly planted in a wave of glory and his muscles flexed and ready for action, he stood ready to strike the first blow, if necessary. I colored his face mostly red to indicate his bold courage and placed a lightning bolt on his side to show that his power comes from his spirit. He is a peaceful guy, so green is his most dominant color. Look for hearts in his body. They indicate that love is his motivation. His mares and foals feel safe and secure with a leader they know they can depend on, not only to lead them, but to protect and defend them against intruders.

I have photographed many bands of wild horses throughout the past year. I usually like to watch the stallion in a band of wild horses as I move closer and closer to get good shots. He usually spots me first and keeps me in sight. Occasionally I’ve seen a band move behind the stallion and watch me safely from behind him. I get the best shots of free horses when several stop and look at me. Often a group of horses will feed casually and not pay any attention to me. At times I have come very close and a few have let me touch them, even pet them. When they run, I sometimes follow them. They usually do not run too far. Only once did I feel challenged, and then he gave me time to back away (see the previous blog). I consider them  the perfect pet… they can take care of themselves; yet because of who they are, I receive so much pleasure just being around them. And I learn so much about Jesus.

I see Jesus in this bold stallion. He resembles a lion. I see myself too.

Jesus stood strong on my behalf when he courageously submitted to our heavenly Father before His crucifixion, “Not my will, but Thy will be done.” These powerful words have life in them. He did not back down, but obeyed the Father’s will and went to the cross. Now, because I believe Him, I have confidence that my ultimate destiny is eternal life with Him. He will protect me and bring me into glory. I believe in my loving and courageous Jesus. I am at peace because I can depend upon Him to stand.

I stand too, in faith believing and obeying my Savior. I will stand behind Him as He leads.

    Will you?

  • Found in Glory

I stood quietly taking pictures in the midst of a band of wild horses that grazed on the side of a mountain.  Suddenly, I noticed a stirring and dust flying in the distance, near the creek below. I hurried to move toward what I expected to be another band of horses. As I got closer, I stopped to look. Out of the dust I spotted a beautiful roan stallion running toward me. I seized this opportunity and counted on my camera to capture all the action. The creek was full of water and the leaves all around were a bright green, a beautiful background for him. He ran toward me and stopped about 50 feet in front of me where a palomino mare and her lovely foal stood. He stared straight at me with nostrils flared, his eyes intense, and his ears pointed. He nudged the mare to move, but she just kicked him with her hind legs. I loved it. I did not intimidate her, nor did he. She wasn’t moving, and neither was I, at first.

He ran again and I shot pictures that showed off his love of freedom. When he returned, he gazed intently at me again. He did this several times while I joyfully captured him in his glory. Then, I actually noticed that when he stopped in front of me, each time he was getting closer and closer. Oh! I felt a chill run through me when I realized he was challenging me. I threw a small rock in his direction thinking that perhaps this would startle him enough to distract him. He didn’t budge. I tried again. Nothing. Okay. I began to back off slowly. We both relaxed and moved on.

I have named him Challenger.  I love the bold courage he displayed.

I painted him in acrylics. This painting is called, Found in Glory. He is a flying horse.

Challenger represents Christ in me, through whom I can do all things. The enemy must back off when I stand and believe.
